When it comes to values, Hoosiers know what’s important and what is not. For most, there are some core beliefs and ideas that we hold near and dear, and we don’t like for anyone to mess with them.

The good things in life can be easily forgotten about, but when we get back to what makes life worth living, we can see each day as a new beginning. Check it out:

  1. Family

  1. Charity

Google/Pradeep Patel Indiana is home to many charitable people and organizations. One of the most popular is Riley Children’s Hospital, but Hoosiers also give to animal, environmental, and religious groups as well. It just feels good to make someone else feel good.

  1. Community

Wikimedia Commons/Rick Dikeman Shared values are no more apparent than in a community setting. Whether it’s at a sporting event cheering on the home team or greeting your neighbors at the annual festival, we take any chance we can get to see a friendly face.

  1. Handmade

Flickr/USDAgov Hoosiers value goods that come from the heart, and that means anything that is homemade. Whether it’s from a local farm or your neighbor’s garden, anything made by hand is special to us.

  1. Religion

Wikimedia Commons/Nyttend It’s no secret that Hoosiers are a spiritual bunch. No matter what you practice, there is space and acceptance for you in our beautiful state.

  1. Competition

Wikimedia Commons/Mr.schultz Many people in Indiana just can’t get enough of sports and other competitions. Whether it’s a cook-off, an endurance test, or something in between, Hoosiers are all about it, and we want to win.

  1. Creativity

Wikimedia Commons/Serge Melki Statues, fountains, murals, and many other forms of art can be found throughout the state. Visit a museum or park to see some of the most creative things to ever be built here. Additionally, theatres, studios, and other performance centers can be found in most cities.

  1. Justice

Wikimedia Commons/Derek Jensen When it comes to right and wrong, Hoosiers have their values in order. No one wants to see a crime go unpunished in this state.

  1. Adventure

Flickr/KenX01 Especially when taken in nature, Indiana adventures are much of what make this state great. Unmarked woods, winding creeks, caves, massive trees, and so much more can be found all around Indiana.

  1. Privacy

Flickr/pb3131 We all want to be left alone at least sometimes. Whether you’ve got a fence or a whole acre of woods between you and the next house, you certainly know how important privacy is to a Hoosier way of life.

Of course, one other thing Hoosiers value is fun. Have the best time ever this summer at this hidden waterpark in Indiana that you’ll never forget.
