Pretty much every Northern Californian will agree that our region is undeniably awesome. There are so many reasons to love this massive and beautiful place. Of course, the northern region of our state gets plenty of hate from another certain region of our state (ahem) that will not be named. However, there are plenty of reasons our lovely state is superior to any other place in the country. If you ever come across a hater, just direct them to these 11 reasons why anyone who hates Northern California can just shut up.
- Our culinary scene is unbeatable.
Min Lee/Flickr Northern California is home to some of the country’s most renowned chefs and restaurants. Our culinary scene is getting better with every day, with more food options than ever and the farm-to-table philosophy exploding throughout our region.
- The weather is simply perfect. All the time.
Daniel Hoherd/Flickr With moderate temperatures throughout the year, it’s really never too hot or too cold here. Unlike our southern neighbors, we do experience seasons. However, they are usually pretty mild.
- The landscapes are never boring.
Daniel Gillaspia/Flickr Some states are unfortunately stuck with just one or two different landscapes. That’s not the case for us. Whether you’re the type of person that likes rugged coastlines and beaches, lush forest, high mountaintops, otherworldly volcanic vistas, meandering rivers, or more…Northern California has it covered.
- We’ve got some of the largest cities in the country…
1Flatworld/Flickr If you’re the type of person that enjoys city life, we’ve got plenty of that. The Bay Area is probably for you!
- But also plenty of charming small towns. It’s the best of both worlds.
Ken Lund/Flickr However, small town life is just as prominent in Northern California. In fact, many of us would argue that these areas are the true Northern California.
- The rest of the world can thank us for our incredible technology scene.
Christian Rondeau/Flickr The tech capital of the world is obviously Silicon Valley. The technology world just wouldn’t be the same without our significant contributions. Northern California is home to 22 of the world’s Fortune 500 companies.
- Our schools are top notch.
UC Davis/Flickr We’re home to some of the most sophisticated and renowned universities. Stanford, Berkeley, San Jose State, Davis…the list is really endless.
- The scenery is out of this world.
Jeff, PJ and Taiki/Flickr Northern California is just downright pretty. What more is there to say? No matter where you are throughout the region, views like this can be easily discovered.
- It’s impossible to get bored here.
Kirt Edblom/Flickr Northern Californians are outdoor lovers and it’s easy to see why. When you live in a place full of abundant natural beauty, why wouldn’t you want to go out and explore it?
- We’re home to the largest and oldest trees in the world.
Seth Page/Flickr This list wouldn’t be complete without the mention of one of our most iconic landmarks. Walking through a forest of redwood trees is an experience that can’t be paralleled.
- The wine. ‘Nuff said.
Sarah Stierch/Flickr Don’t try to tell us that your wine scene is better than ours. Ever heard of a little place called Napa or Sonoma? Yeah, that’s what I thought.
