They’re something special, especially if you like adventure. For those Kansans looking for more to do every day, check out these underrated places to revisit next time you have time to spare.

Chris Murphy/Flickr Rock City is more than just an area full of rocks, it’s also a great place to discover how diverse Kansas’ landscape is and how funny geology can be sometimes.

  1. Kansas Cosmosphere — Hutchinson

Randy/Flickr The Cosmosphere is a great place to learn about the sky above with virtual tours, as well as see if rocket science is really that hard after all. Visitors of all ages will enjoy this virtual tour through space.

Al/Flickr Even those who don’t love the movie can enjoy learning about the theatre production and novel series that also brought the world of Oz to life.

  1. Cowley County Waterfall — Dexter

Kay Martinez/Flickr Who doesn’t love a good waterfall? Though this one is man-made, we don’t love it any less. Plus, the colorful rock around it gives it the perfect backdrop for any season.

  1. Konza Prairie — Manhattan

Vincent Parsons/Flickr The Konza Prairie is an area that’s absolutely gorgeous any time of year or time of day. Just remember to leave nothing behind while you visit.

  1. Santa Fe Trail Ruts — Dodge City
