According to the latest report put together by Luggagehero, during this year’s busy travel season more than half a million pieces of baggage are expected to be lost, misdirected, or damaged during U.S. domestic flights. After looking at six years of data from the Department of Transportation, the company was able to narrow down 12 of the best and worst airlines for keeping your luggage safe and sound while traveling. Luggagehero After analyzing Air Travel Consumer Reports between 2012 and April of 2018, Luggagehero was able to see that while there has been an overall drop of baggage claims by 27% - there are still some airlines that do better than others. Here they are, ranked from best to worst:
- Delta Airlines
- Spirit Airlines
- JetBlue Airlines
- United Airlines
- Alaska Airlines
- Frontier Airlines
- Southwest Airlines
- Hawaiin Airlines
- American Airlines
- Skywest Airlines
- Express Jet Airlines
- Envoy Air
Coming out on top, both Delta Airlines and Spirit Airlines were ranked as being the best when it came to keeping your luggage safe, with Jetblue Airways coming in as a close third. Envoy Air was determined to be most likely to leave your baggage damaged, with overall ExpressJet Airlines and Skywest Airlines also having not-so-stellar reviews.
