The Bighorn Canyon, which Montana shares with Wyoming, is one of our most magnificent natural wonders. But it’s far from the only canyon in the Treasure State. These are four of our underrated gorges that don’t always get the attention they deserve.

Noelle Sara / alltrails.com Located about 30 minutes from Helena, Trout Creek Canyon barely survived a spring flood in 1981. It’s now a scenic hiking trail, and it’s beautiful on a warm spring or summer day.
- Blodgett Canyon

Troy Smith / Flickr The beautiful Blodgett Canyon is located in Southwestern Montana near Hamilton. You can go on a backpacking adventure on the 26-mile trail or relax by the river, enjoying the views.
- Bridger Canyon

Keith Ewing / Flickr Bridger Canyon lies just north of Bozeman in the heart of the Bridger Mountains, and it’s a popular place for hikers, bikers, and wildlife enthusiasts. But even if you’re not into any of those things, you’ll find that it offers one of the most scenic drives in the state.
- Bad Rock Canyon
Wikipedia Bad Rock Canyon is a river canyon located just outside of Columbia Falls. It once was a part of the buffalo trail leading through the Rocky Mountains to the buffalo hunting grounds on the Great Plains. These days, it serves as the entry to the Bob Marshall Wilderness.
These canyons are all spectacular. And if you’d like to cruise through one on a boat tour, just head to the Gates of the Mountains.
