Kansas has always been odd, but in the best of ways. There’s more than a handful of quirky monuments in Kansas, but we’ve set out to find each and every one of them. These odd places in Kansas are just a small piece of the giant weird puzzle that Kansas feels like sometimes. Have you seen them all?

  1. Blue Sky Sculpture - 1500 N. Kansas Ave., Centennial Park, Newton, KS

bigtyke/TripAdvisor This beautiful sculpture in Newton really showcases our love for the skies above us.

  1. Davis Memorial - 606 Iowa St., Hiawatha, KS

David M/TripAdvisor There’s so much love in the story of this memorial that Davis built about his life with his wife and their story.

  1. Statue of Deafy Boular - N 5th St. and Commercial St., Atchison, KS

Google Maps This legless bricklayer has been immortalized in Atchison. Though we don’t know for sure, Ripley’s Believe it or Not once claimed that Deafy laid 46,000 paving bricks in a single eight-hour day.

  1. Miniature Statues of Liberty

J Stephen Conn/Flickr Not only does a miniature Lady Liberty live right here in Liberal, there are more! In fact, Kansas has 25 different mini Statues of Liberty around the state.

  1. Giant Concrete Teepee - US-40, Lawrence, KS

Mitchell Cope/Flickr This giant teepee stands tall in Lawrence, where people of all kinds love to take pictures and feel like a tiny person next to this giant structure.

  1. Castle Rock - Castle Rock Dr., Gove, KS

Patrick Emerson/Flickr Castle Rock is another Niobrara Chalk formation that has been slowly crumbling over the years. Every once in a while, a large chunk falls off and we lose this monument just a little quicker.

  1. Geographic Center of the Contiguous United States - Highway K-191, Lebanon, KS

Rita B/TripAdvisor Though it doesn’t mark the actual center of the contiguous US found all those years ago, it’s close enough to count. Nevertheless, the tiny chapel and stone marker is a great place to stop if it’s along the way during a road trip.

If you’re looking to take a full tour across the state, you should also check out these can’t-miss Kansas attractions that fit us so well. What is your favorite odd Kansas attraction? Feel free to share with us in the comments below! We’re always looking for more places to go.
