If you haven’t already noticed, we here in Colorado tend to do things a little differently than the rest of the world, and the holiday season is no exception! From dressing up as Santa and skiing down the slopes to making a trek to the ACTUAL North Pole, there are plenty of whacky traditions to go around, which also include:

  1. Strip down to our skivvies, put on a Santa hat, and RUN!

Denver Santa Speedo Dash Facebook It’s for charity, okay?! Taking place December 8th (2018), the 7th annual Santa Speedo Dash is a one-mile run through Denver that benefits the dogs and cats at the Life is Better Rescue. We will strip to that any day!

  1. We skip the heartwarming for the heart pounding.

Krampus: A Haunted Christmas What? Doesn’t everyone celebrate this joyous time of year by visiting a haunted house? Coloradans sure do! Running December 8th and 15th is Krampus: A Haunted Christmas (Chapter 2), which features the “lovable” Jack Frost, mini escape games, and even photo opportunities to commemorate this festive occasion.

  1. We sit in the bitter cold just to watch our beloved Denver Broncos lose.

  1. We travel to Greeley to see the actual Griswold’s decked out home.

The Greeley Grizwalds Yes, this is a real thing! To experience all of this Griswold goodness for yourself, make the trip to 354 50th St. in Greeley… you will NOT be disappointed! (If you lose signal on your GPS, just go toward the blinding light.)

  1. Despite the cold and snow, we will still go camping.

Flickr/Phil King Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these campers from the swift completion of spending the night in the Colorado wilderness.

  1. And finally, as we teased in the intro, we will dress up as Santa to ski…

Crested Butte Santa Ski & Pub Crawl Want to help set the World record for the most skiing Santas? Meet us in Crested Butte on December 15th for the 6h annual “Santa Ski and Crawl!” Oh, and don’t forget your hat and beard.

  1. …and make a pilgrimage to the real-life North Pole.

Santa’s Workshop North Pole, Colorado Facebook I mean, the North Pole is located just outside of Colorado Springs, so what are we supposed to do? Not go ride all of the carnival rides and sit on Santa’s lap even though we are full-grown adults?
