Looking to find some new trails for an epic adventure? Dust off your hiking boots and don’t let summer come to a close without exploring these amazing, less traveled trails.

  1. Glenn Emery Trail

Will Butterfield/All Trails This 3.8-mile out and back trail over in Bentley is perfect for anyone looking to immerse yourself in a forest setting. The endpoints are the Stuart Lake Recreation Complex and the Pollock Community Sports Complex. You can find a trail map for the Glenn Emery Trail here.

  1. Woodlands Trail

Kelly King/All Trails At the end of this four-mile trail, you’ll come across some historical WWII ammunition bunkers.   1. Magnolia Forest Walk

Tom Carpenter/All Trails The Magnolia Forest Walk is an out and back trail that’s just shy of six miles. Located in the Kisatchie National Forest near Elmer, the trail is dog-friendly as long as they are kept on a leash. Click here for a trail map of the Magnolia Forest Walk.

  1. Northlake Nature Center South Loop Trail

Sean Hurly/All Trails The two-mile trail in Mandeville has some absolutely stunning scenic views of the swamps and bayous that surround it. You can find a trail map here.

  1. Durden Hills Nature Trail

Adam Burton/All Trails Head over to Haughton to take your pick of three loop trails, each about 2.5 miles. It’s a great place for an afternoon hike or a bike ride through the trees. You’ll find it at 1700 Bodcau Dam Rd., Haughton, LA 71037.

  1. White Tail Trail

Cheri Holbrook/All Trails Located in Claiborne State Park, this 2.6-mile loop trail is a great place for wildlife spotting and offers beautiful views of Lake Claiborne. Click here for a trail map.

Topher Haddox/All Trails Named after the monkeys at the nearby chimpanzee sanctuary, this loop trail is just shy of seven miles and is primarily a mountain biking trail.
