American Airlines/Facebook Official as of August 1st, Economy Class passengers can log on to the American Airlines website or visit their app anytime between 30-days to 24-hours before their flight. Once you’re logged into your reservations, you’ll simply scroll and click on “Reserve A Meal” and then click “Place Your Order” to make the magic happen. Once you board your flight and it’s time for meal service, you’ll then pay for the meal with your credit card.

There are some catches to this whole new system though that you’ll want to be aware of. The pre-order option unfortunately won’t be available for every single American Airlines flight, but only for flights with “light meals,” meaning menu items like their fruit and cheese plates, chicken and arugula wraps, and turkey sandwiches. The pre-order option will also only be available for flights longer than 3-hours that depart between 9:45 a.m. and 8 p.m.
