The TSA PreCheck Program has made a welcome impact when it comes to expediting the security screening process for air travelers. Since the project launched, it has gathered more than seven million participants nationwide and continues to expand. Recently, a new U.S. carrier has been added to the lineup.

Transportation Security Administration/Facebook Via Airlines is the latest of three recent additions to the TSA’s PreCheck Program, which now includes 56 domestic and international carriers and is available in more than 200 airports.
TSA PreCheck aims to make air travel a bit more bearable for those who dread the process of standing in lines to check in, check baggage, and pass through security (and let’s be honest - who doesn’t dread those parts?). If you’re interested in joining, enrollment costs $85 for a five-year membership and the perks are definitely worth it if you are a frequent flyer. Participating airlines and airports offer expedited TSA PreCheck lines through security, and since you are pre-screened when you sign up, you don’t have to remove your shoes, jackets, and belts or unpack the electronics and flight-compliant liquids from your carry-on baggage. As of October 2018, over 90% of TSA PreCheck passengers reported wait times of five minutes or less.
Do keep in mind that enrolling for TSA PreCheck is not something you can do when you arrive at the airport; it’s a process that you must apply for beforehand. Along with the background check, you’re required to complete a short, in-person interview and be fingerprinted. Applying is easy and can be started online through the TSA website. Once you have been approved, just enter your TSA PreCheck Traveler Number to your airline reservations and zip through airports with ease!
