Way up north, nearly all the way to Lake Superior, is one of Wisconsin’s best state parks. Amnicon Falls State Park is a wild and beautiful spot with rock faces that are millions of years old. Going here is like discovering a totally different universe. To add to the sense of being transported, you can actually swim in the Amnicon River at the base of one of the falls.
The falls can be fast moving, but they create one of the best, most unique opportunities in the state.

This is one of the smaller state parks at 825 acres, but there are nearly two miles of hiking trails and there is so much natural beauty and amazing experiences packed into the space.

This smaller cascade empties into a wide, natural pool that just invites you to dip in on a hot summer day.

Swimming in the Amnicon River is at your own risk. There are no lifeguards and visitors have to make informed choices. The water is more dangerous after a heavy rain as the river is flowing more strongly. Be smart and you can enjoy a totally amazing day here.

It can be relaxing and rejuvenating as you get to slide into the water and experience the park from a whole new perspective.

Getting to swim under and behind the falls is a truly magical experience.

Amnicon Falls is a truly gorgeous location that all Wisconsinites have to visit at least once. A single-day car pass is $8 and a yearly state parks car pass is $28.
