Annadele’s Plantation/Facebook A group of police jurors from the town of Claiborne formed the Claiborne Company in 1819, and were looking for a location for the St. Tammany Courthouse and jail, so they purchased 1,765 acres. Unfortunately, the town of Claiborne didn’t flourish as it was anticipated, so the courthouse was abandoned and eventually Covington became the parish seat. The 1,765 acres were divided up and sold, and Colonel Thomas Sully purchased a 24-acre parcel and built the plantation.
While the property has changed hands a number of times over the years, there has always been a focus to maintain the original charm and beauty of this historic place.
