The lodge we know and love today has gone through quite the changes throughout the decades.
Bear Mountain Lodge/Facebook Since 1910, the lodge has had many owners. It’s been a cattle ranch, a school for unruly children, a country club, and ultimately became the resort that it is today.
Despite its many owners, one of the owners who held the title longest was Myra McCormick, and her husband Fred.
Bear Mountain Lodge/Facebook After her husband passed, Myra, being the bird lover she was, donated the property to the Nature Conservatory, with the condition that they would continue to operate the lodge for at least 10 years.
