If you live in Kennebunk, you wait all winter long to see this sign. Charlie Bennett founded his sandwich shop in 1982, and this little shop has been serving up award-winning sandwiches in Maine every spring and summer since.

Charlie was quite a legend. A star athlete, he was inducted into the Maine Baseball Hall of Fame. After serving in World War II, he came home and served his community even more as a teacher for 37 years, and also played a vital role in the Kennebunk Beach Improvement Association.

The slogan here is “Sandwiches as big as the legend.” The sandwiches here are a fitting tribute to the man who gave so much to the community of Kennebunk.
