If you love to chase waterfalls, then you’re living in the right state. The Upstate of South Carolina has hundreds of waterfalls to discover. In fact, we wrote this article earlier in the year about one single county in the Palmetto State that has at least 150 waterfalls. Wow! It’s going to be a busy season tracking them all down! If you want to hit a trail that’s less followed, then head to this waterfall gorge with a swimming hole you’ll probably have all to yourself…
The trail to Blue Hole Falls, located between Walhalla and Long Creek in Oconee County, is a short and somewhat challenging hike.

The hike is .05 mile each way and is rated easy, however you’ll have a few short, steep sections and you’ll have to cross over a small creek. Also, keep in mind that part of the trail takes you to the top of the 75-foot waterfall that drops down a narrow chute through a gorge and into a blue pool below. So remember to exercise extra caution when you’re on the rocks anywhere near the water flow, since rocks tend to get slippery when wet.
At the foot of that long waterfall is a hidden swimming hole.

Grab your hiking boots and prepare for a thrill and a chill.

(Also, if you keep walking upstream, you’ll come to another waterfall, called Cedar Creek Falls, that is approximately 10 feet high and also has an ideal spot for swimming.)
