Oklahoma has one of the most diverse topographies in the country, and one of the best ways to explore its beauty is through hiking. There’s a short hike that will take you to the top of Gloss Mountain and offers panoramic views of terrain you don’t typically see in Oklahoma. Gloss Mountain State Park (sometimes called Glass Mountain) is located in Major County, near the city of Fairview. It’s open 365 days a year for hiking, from sunrise to sunset.

It’s a short hike but be prepared to walk steep stairs to the top. It’s rated as moderate and will take you to more than 200 feet in elevation.

One of the most spectacular things about Gloss Mountain is its shiny glass exterior from the high selenite content in the mountains. When the sun hits it, it shines and looks glossy (hence the name).
