It suffices to say that the Christmas season is officially upon us and we can’t think of a more thrilling way to rev up the holiday cheer than by riding this Christmas train that’s brilliantly decorated with twinkling lights. This is the 41st year the Museum of Life and Science in Durham has hosted their Santa Train.

It’s an event the whole family will enjoy, as the train makes its merry way to the North Pole so everyone can meet Santa.

Many festive activities are a part of this annual tradition, including music, face painting, holiday crafts, and more. But that moonlit train ride amidst all those twinkling lights is simply magical.

Waiting on the other end of the journey is Jolly Old Saint Nick (and his elves) just waiting to see to meet every child on the train.

After your rendezvous with Santa and his elves, you and your train will return to the station where you can walk through the many light displays. Don’t miss stopping at the pop-up Museum Gift Shop and be sure to take a turn on the skating rink in your sock feet.

It sounds like a blast – because it is! Are you ready to reserve your spot? The ticket prices vary by date, and range from $15 to $22. Trains depart every 20 minutes from 5:20 p.m. to 8:20 p.m. but only on the following dates: December 1-2, December 5-9, December 12-16, and December 19-22.
