Is it time for a beach getaway? We love Southern California’s coastline, with its stunning beaches and glorious sunsets, and this little town offers an unspoiled beach that you won’t want to miss this summer.

The charming town of Del Mar has around 4,400 residents, so it’s big enough to offer plenty of amenities but small enough to maintain a small-town feel.

Del Mar is well-known for its racetrack, which is one of the largest horse-racing tracks in the west. Visit the racetrack, but then you’ll want to head to Del Mar’s true gem: its beach.

On a sunny day, you’ll find others on the beach, but it tends to not get as crowded as some of the larger beaches on the coast.

Del Mar offers two parks. Seagrove Park has lush vegetation on its eastern cliffs, and its a great place for a picnic, or to sit and enjoy the views.

Visit Powerhouse Park, where you can swim and play on the beach. If you have kids, you’ll love the barefoot Tot Lot, which is a dog-free zone where kids can scamper around on the grass without worrying about stepping in anything unpleasant. Both Seagrove and Powerhouse Parks have plenty of sandy beaches, too.

North Beach is popular for dog owners. If you want to see some happy pups, head to this beach, where dogs are free to frolic.

Del Mar has several great dining spots that offer incredible beach views. Jake’s Del Mar (pictured here), is just one restaurant that offers fresh, delicious fare. Other top options include Poseidon, Sbicca, and Pacifica Del Mar.
