Zabriskie Point, located in Death Valley National Park, is one of the most stunning landscapes you’ll ever see. Easy to reach on a weekend trip from most parts of Southern California, this is one natural wonder that should be at the top of everyone’s bucket list.

So what exactly is Zabriskie Point, you may be wondering? Part of the Amargosa Range, this stretch of land is made up of sediments from a lake that dried up millions of years ago – five million to be exact. What remains is a unique formation of eroded rocks that are absolutely spellbinding.

You can find Zabriskie Point off CA-190 just east of Death Valley.

Upon arrival, you’ll find plenty of parking and several informative signs that will provide you with a brief history of this stunning setting.

Although this is an attraction that many people flock to see, it rarely seems to be overcrowded so you’ll be able to enjoy this setting without feeling like you’re at a tourist trap.

You may even have this place all to yourself depending on the timing of your visit. So make sure to take the opportunity to capture tons of pictures as this landscape is quite surreal.

And if you time your visit just right, you’ll be treated to the most colorful sunrises and sunsets that your eyes have ever seen. As the sun hits the rocks they appear to turn shades of pink and purple in the distance. It’s absolutely spellbinding.
