Since originally opening in 1992, Minnesota’s Mall of America has been considered our country’s largest mall. But now, the same real estate company that brought us the Mall of America is in the works to bring us another enormous mall – only this time it’ll be down in the Sunshine State. Prepare yourselves – there’s a reason why people are so excited about the news of this mall coming to Florida!

Bill Bentley/Flickr In a day and age where you almost never see new malls being built, the real estate company Triple Five Group is planning to build the world’s largest mall right in Miami, Florida. Named American Dream, the mall is set to cost a total of $4 billion to build, with plans to go up on an over 170-acre lot that’s mostly made up of abandoned farmland just off the Florida Turnpike.

You’re probably wondering what exactly they’re planning to put inside this mall that’s going to make it cost such an astronomical amount. Well, here’s what Trip Five Group has planned for the over six million-square-foot entertainment and retail complex. First off, the complex will have a total of 2,000 hotel rooms - wow! Then there are all the plans for jaw-dropping attractions like a lagoon with submarine rides, fishing hole, water park, artificial ski slope, skating rink, and a variety of indoor roller coasters.

American Dream Sounds too good to be true, huh? Well, the mall isn’t built quite yet but this spring marked a huge step forward in making the American Dream come to life. The Miami-Dade County Commissioners granted the zoning approval that Triple Five Group needs in order to build the mall - a major step forward since buying the land back in 2015.

Next, Trip Five Group will need to complete environmental permitting before construction on the mall can begin. American Dream is set to create 14,000 new jobs for Miami and has many residents excited about the future of this land. To learn more about the American Dream mall, click here.
