Challis Hot Springs goes back a long time. The original homestead was constructed in the 1890s and was called “Beardsley Resort & Hotel”. The resort has switched hands a couple of times over the last century but it has always remained a top relaxation destination in central Idaho.

The natural mineral springs at the resort are fed from an underground geothermal source. There are two pools for you to choose from. The largest one contains water ranging from 100-102 degrees Fahrenheit which is perfectly comfortable for swimming in.

The smaller pool contains water that ranges from 105-107 degrees Fahrenheit. This one is best for those who prefer their hot spring water super hot!

As far as amenities go, Challis Hot Springs boasts 33 RV camping sites, 13 tent camping sites, and eight rooms in their Bed and Breakfast. You really couldn’t ask for a more scenic camping location. The surrounding mountains make you feel like you’re contained in your own little private bubble of Idaho beauty.

The campground is situated right along the Salmon River, so recreational opportunities are abundant. Hiking and ATV trails are accessed directly from the property. The river is perfect for fishing, boating, or simply dipping your toes in.

Located in the historic guesthouse is a charming little Bed and Breakfast that’s a great option for non-campers. The rooms and everything boast the perfect balance of rustic country ambiance and class. This place is a true hidden gem.
