Wyoming is full of pioneer towns where strange happenings were the norm as people settled into life way out west. One town in particular has a strange history that many have never thought about. Have you ever wondered just what happened to all of those emigrants who lost their lives in their new hometowns?
Laramie, Wyoming was a frontier town - and as people began to settle down here, they built their lives on the plains.
Flickr / Jim Maurer As time went on, pioneers died - either from natural causes or from the rough life out here in the middle of nowhere. Because the town was small, Wyomginites began to bury their dead just on the outskirts of town, in frontier cemeteries.
As the town expanded, these cemeteries had to be moved to accommodate new homes, ranches, and buildings.
Flickr / Uncool Bob Back in the day, the record keeping wasn’t that great… so many of these cemeteries were moved, but nobody knows where they ended up.
That means that throughout Laramie, homes, stores, offices and more may be built right on top of old graveyards.
