Natural disasters have been hitting hard in states all throughout the country this year, but back in May, volcanic eruptions and seismic activity got so bad that one of America’s most visited national parks had to abruptly close. After making the necessary repairs to get the park back open again, Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park finally welcomed visitors once again on September 22nd with its official reopening.

Parts of the park, including several trails, still remain closed while undergoing repairs and are under damage assessment.

Thousands of visitors have already begun to flock back to Hawaii’s most visited national park after they’ve been anxiously waiting to get back to exploring this piece of the island.

Not everything about the park is the same though since it closed back in May. For the first time in years, visitors won’t be able to see any lava here.

With new changes made to the park and scenery to look at, there are some things you’re going to want to keep in mind before you revisit this beautiful place.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the new parking area by the summit is now smaller in size, meaning that things are going to get crowded more quickly, so the early you can arrive the better!
