Sperling’s Best Places has drawn up this fascinating map of metro areas where natural disasters are most and least likely to hit. They assessed 379 American metro areas (cities and their surrounding suburbs) to figure out the risk for devastating natural events in each spot.

In general, New York and Ohio are two of the least likely places in the country for a hurricane, tornado, flood, forest fire or earthquake to hit. Dallas-Plano-Irving, TX and Jonesboro, AR were ranked as the two most dangerous spots in the nation in terms of the likliness of a natural disaster striking.
