As temperatures begin to soar around Oregon, you’re probably dreaming of summertime. One of the most popular warm-weather activities here in the Beaver State is hitting up a magnificent swimming hole. One of the most spectacular is Opal Pool, within the Opal Creek Wilderness. To reach this enchanting spot, you’ll hike through an old-growth forest filled to the brim with stunning scenery. Take a look:
Your journey begins in the Opal Creek Wilderness at the Opal Creek Trailhead, which can be accessed via North Fork Road off of OR-22.

This easy 7-mile loop hike leads you through an ancient forest filled to the brim with enchanting river and waterfall views.

As the largest old-growth forest in the western Cascades, you’ll feel like you’re taking a step back in time. Some of the trees are over a 1,000 years old.
