There are some things in life that can never be explained. But who would have thought that a jar of rogue pickles would be one of them? A lonely jar of pickles has mysteriously appeared — and disappeared — at an entrance ramp leading from I-270 North to Manchester Rd. in east Missouri town of Des Peres since 2012. Why? It’s kind of a big dill to find out:
Residents first noticed a lone jar of pickles at the ramp location in 2012.
Barb Steen at Team Pickle/Facebook Resident Barb Steen started watching for it ever since. She took this photo of the pickles in 2014.
The culinary conundrum has put people in quite a pickle ever since.
Lois Ebmeyer @ Team Pickle/Facebook The jar has made it through changes in the season, storms, construction, and traffic. When one falls or breaks, eventually another jar takes over…sometimes days, weeks, or even months later.
Motorists note that the pickle varieties change, but the base location remains.
Lois Ebmeyer@Team Pickle/Facebook The locals watchdogs of the pickles remind the world that “change is good.”
Speculation runs rampant on why the pickle shrine came to pass…although so far, no answers have been forthcoming.

A “Team Pickle” Facebook page was created in 2016 rallying for a call to make the pickles famous.
Sophie Barimo@Team Pickle/Facebook Memes, sightings, conspiracy theories, and even support groups with the rallying cry of “dilly, dilly” have joined in.
Until the pickle puzzle is resolved, locals agree that the sightings a wondrous way to add some fun into an otherwise boring drive.
