Spring is a beautiful time to hit the trails in Kentucky, as nature seems to come back to life after what often feels like an endless winter. The birds are chirping, the trees are budding, and wildflowers sprout up all over the Bluegrass State.
Our wonderful state park system is a great place to experience the wildflowers of Kentucky, and many even offer guided hikes to check them out. Of course, you are always welcome to go and explore for yourself, as well. One of the best places to experience the wildflowers and spring in Kentucky is at the magical John James Audubon State Park in Henderson. This park has so much to offer and you’ll definitely fall in love with all of the trails and the breathtaking wildflowers, scattered throughout the preserve.

Much of the park is within a dedicated Kentucky State Nature Preserve, so the surroundings are especially untouched. In April each year, the trails of the park come to life with a sea of color. While all of the paths are worth a try, the Wilderness Lake Trail is particularly beautiful this time of year.
