But wait, what’s kaiserschmarrn anyway?
Facebook / Kaisy’s Delights Kaiserschmarrn is an Austrian dessert. Here at the cafe, they call it a kaisy for short. It’s sort of a delicious cross between a pancake, french toast, and another pastry. Kaisies are caramelized and includes raisins, and they’re light and fluffy. It’s served in small pieces and traditionally with jam, powdered sugar, or marmalade.
Most visitors choose to try their Kaisy in a cup, topped with homemade chocolate sauce or marmalade, and a few other delicious, fresh toppings.

You can also enjoy a full kaisy-based platter, with homemade marmalade, potato latkes, bacon, sausage and more.

Like any good cafe, Kaisy’s Delights serves up delicious coffee creations, as well.

Both Kaisy’s Delights locations are open Sunday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. This charming cafe is the only place where you can find kaiserschmarrn in Delaware, but be warned, it’s completely addictive.
