While some of our state parks are quite famous, others get much less attention. One such place is Kingdom Come State Park, a beautiful hidden gem that you’ll want to visit over and over again.
Kingdom Come State Park is located in the far southeastern part of the state, in Cumberland.

Situated atop Pine Mountain, this stunning 1,283-acre park has a rich history. It was named after the novel The Little Shepherd of Kingdom Come, a Civil War novel written by Kentucky resident John Fox Jr. in 1903, and became a state park in 1961.

With bird’s eye views from its perch at over 2,600 feet elevation, you’ll feel as though you’re at the top of the world.

There’s plenty to keep you busy during your visit. The pretty 3.5-acre lake has paddle boats so you can explore it and get some exercise at the same time. The lake is also a perfect spot to try your hand at fishing.

You’ll also want to check out Log Rock - a natural sandstone bridge that looks like a huge tree that’s fallen over in the woods. You can take the path right up to the arch to see it up close.
