It’s finally time, Nebraska: time to get out there and enjoy the summer to the fullest. This fun floating bar on the Missouri River promises to be one of the most memorable experiences you’ll have this summer.

Kon-Tiki-O is a four-level floating tiki bar permanently docked in Omaha on the Missouri River, right next to the River City Star riverboat. In previous lives, the Kon-Tiki-O was known as the Belle of Brownville and the River City Star. Today it’s living every retired vessel’s dream.

In 2014, it was debuted as a party barge with several distinct areas. Below is the Captain’s Quarters, which occupies the first deck. This subdued space offers enclosed walls, a fireplace, and a rather quiet place to enjoy a drink.

Go up a level to the Drunken Parrot Lounge, a fun space where the tiki bar personality really starts to shine.

You might just forget you’re in landlocked Nebraska while you’re partying in here - when you’ve had a few drinks, it starts to feel like you’re in a tropical paradise.

The third deck is occupied by the Kon-Tiki-O Rio Loco Sandbar. The simulated lawn and palm trees, along with the “tropical” breeze blowing in from the river, make this the perfect place to enjoy a fruity frozen drink on a summer evening.

Finally, the 4th deck is dedicated to the Lookout Loft, a small observation area that’s often used as a stage for live music acts. When there’s not a band performing up there, you can climb to the top for an incredible view of downtown Omaha.

You can book the entire barge for private events; it holds up to 300 guests, so it can accommodate pretty much any gathering you’re planning.

The place gets especially pretty at night when it’s all lit up from within. The fun keeps going long after the sun goes down!

There’s another former riverboat in Nebraska that’s been transformed into a permanently docked attraction: this lovely floating resort in Brownville.
