The most authentic fish & chips come from Great Britain, but 4,800 miles seems like an awfully long way to travel for them, doesn’t it? Luckily, a wonderful woman from a little village in England moved to Layton, Utah a few years ago…and she brought a fish & chips recipe with her.

Little Taste of Britain opened in 2007. It’s a family-owned and operated business run by an actual Englishwoman, and if you’ve ever been to Great Britain, you’ll feel as though you just hopped the pond when you walk into this little shop. It’s located at 1095 N. Main Street, Layton UT 84041.

The shop originally opened as a little store, similar to the kind of place you’d find in a small English village. It stocks imported food and treats from Great Britain such as Mars Bars, Bisto Gravy, Cadbury Flakes and other great items you can only find overseas.

Customers who originally hailed Great Britain often asked the owner if she would sell fish & chips, so she added hot food to the shop’s offerings just a year or so later. The menu includes fish & chips, steak & kidney pie, beans on toast, and other authentic English food.

These fish & chips are legit. Tender and flaky on the inside, just the right amount crunchy on the outside, they really are exactly like what you’d get if you visited England.

The little shop is cozy and interesting, with flags, memorabilia and decor from Great Britain everywhere you look.

And obviously, this place loves the royal family! You’ll find photos and other items celebrating the family on the walls here.
