Calling all watermelon lovers! There’s an annual festival in the tiny town of Luling that celebrates everyone’s favorite summertime fruit, and you won’t want to miss it. It’s filled with watermelon-themed activities and contests, food, family entertainment, and more. We all know there’s nothing better than a cold slice of watermelon when the Texas heat is beating down on you, so mark your calendars to attend this fun event.
An annual occurrence since 1954, this will be the 65th consecutive Watermelon Thump. Between this mural, the town’s water tower, and the festival itself, I think it’s safe to say Luling takes everyone’s favorite summertime fruit pretty seriously.

The four-day event runs from Thursday, June 21 to Sunday, June 24. Live music, a car show, parade, and carnival are just a few of the many activities taking place.

Thursday night marks the all-important coronation of the Thump Queen. All attendees gather to celebrate the one lucky girl who gets to reign over the festival, and she makes her first public appearance as a royal figure during the parade on Saturday morning.
