A couple of years ago, we told you about Tupelo Buffalo Park. (To refresh your memory, the 200-acre park is home to more than 260 animals and offers guided safari tours.) But, that’s not the only place in Mississippi where you can get up close and personal with wildlife. Though a bit smaller, the recently opened wildlife park in Brandon, MS is perfect for a family day trip. Take a look:

This is McClain Lodge. It’s located just east of Jackson in the town of Brandon.

The 2,000-acre property has long been a popular event venue; however, it recently underwent a makeover, which included the addition of several restaurants, a farmers market, general store, and Safari Park.

Encompassing more than 60 acres, the Safari Park is home to nearly 30 exotic species from around the world.

Learning about the park’s wild inhabitants is easy thanks to guided safari tours. Perfect for all ages, the fun-filled excursions include riding in either a private tour vehicle (pictured) or wagon.

In addition to enjoying a guided tour of the park, you’ll also have the chance to feed the animals.

The Safari Park is opened Tuesday – Sunday with tours taking place at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 3 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 6 p.m., and 7:30 p.m.

Continue your “wild” time after your tour by grabbing a bite to eat at The Observation Deck. The on-site eatery features huge windows, so you can catch glimpses of zebras, buffalo, and more while you dine.
