McDonald’s has become one of the most recognizable fast food restaurants around the world with their famous golden arches that you can see from a mile away. A McDonald’s you may have never even realized that you’ve driven by before, the tiny village of New Hyde Park has a fast food joint that’s not like the ones you’re used to seeing.

Right on the Jericho Turnpike, this particular McDonald’s was built in 1795 as a farmhouse for the Denton family - known as the Denton House.

When McDonald’s purchased the property in 1985, their original plan was to demolish the entire Denton House due to the fact that it had become severely run down.

But after locals refused to see this piece of history torn to the ground, McDonald’s agreed to fully restore the exterior of the home to how it once looked in the 1920s.

The aesthetic of this McDonald’s may not resemble the ones that you’re used to visiting, but have no fear! All of your favorite foods can still be found on the same red and yellow menu that you normally see.
