When non-natives thing of Missouri they think of the Arch. Our state’s most iconic landmark has been under construction for over 2 years. For the past few years, the Arch grounds have been transformed into a sprawling park that crosses over the interstate and connects the Old Courthouse and Kiener Plaza with the rest of the national park. While the park and the plaza have been finished for a while, the construction underground was still in full swing.

If you’ve been the Arch in the past, you likely rememebr the drab concrete entrances that took you underground into the museum and tram area. The spaces has been modernized into a beautiful gallery that lets in tons of natural light!

The museum has received an awesome update too! This instillation in the lobby represents the final piece installed at the top of the Arch.

The new Westward Expansion Museum is totally modernized. The new museum does a fantastic job showcasing how important the Louisiana Purchase and St. Louis was in the making of modern America.

Huge sculptures have been brought in. This life size replica of a bison is certainly impressive. It’s hard to imagine that thousands of bison once roamed across the Midwest.

The museum also features historic replicas of famous trading posts. The Rock House represents St. Louis’ beginnings as a fur trading port.

Beautiful replicas of the city and the original model of the Arch are also on display. Even if you’ve been to the museum under the Arch 100 times, you’ll want to come back for this all new experience.

The Gateway Arch Museum officially opens to the public on July 3rd. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. and guests will receive a commemorative coin, while supplies last.
