Most Virginians have heard of the famed Natural Bridge, but did you know there was an equally-impressive landmark known as Natural Tunnel? Located in Duffield, Virginia, this attraction is the center feature of Natural Tunnel State Park. The feature cave is so large, in fact, that it doubles as a railway tunnel. Visitors to the park can marvel at this massive rock formation while exploring the surrounding landscape of the Clinch River, naturally-formed amphitheaters, and the Appalachian mountains.
The massive landmark known as Natural Tunnel measures approximately 80 feet in height and 200 feet in width. Naturalists believe the tunnel began its formation in the Pleistocene period.
