For such a small state, Maryland sure is filled with many abandoned places. Many know of the old asylums, but did you known that there’s an entire ghost town hiding in a local park? Check out this unique spot that continues to weather away day by day…
The town of Daniels dates back to 1810, when a textile mill was built in the area. Open positions at the mill drew about 90 families to the woodland town.

By the late 1960s, the mill was set to close and the local families were notified that housing would be shut down as well. Residents left, leaving behind old houses, churches, and even cars.

Today you can still explore this area, which is located in the Daniels section at Patapsco Valley State Park near Ellicott City. For a trail map and more information on this spot, click here.

Be sure to bring a camera to capture the intricate details. Arches still remain among the rubble and it’s a beautiful thing to spot among nature.
