When the summer temperatures are just too much to bear, staying cool is at the top of everyone’s mind. And while Mississippi is home to some great swimming spots, most of them tend to get pretty crowded during the summer. But that’s not always the case. In fact, there’s a secluded beach hiding in the small community of New Site that’s perfect for escaping the heat and the crowds. Take a look:

Head to the small community of New Site, and you’ll find about 850 residents and the Piney Grove Recreation Area, which includes a campground and beach.

Known as Piney Grove Beach, the secluded swimming spot is the perfect place to cool off, while avoiding the huge crowds that usually come along with the beach.

Situated on Bay Springs Lake, the beach features stretches of white sand and…

Set up a spot on the beach and soak up some sun or venture out into the refreshingly cool water to splash around.

Since Piney Grove Beach is part of a recreation area, there are picnic areas, water fountains, showers, and restrooms nearby, making it easy to (comfortably) spend the entire day at this tropical paradise.

And remember, there’s also a 141-site campground, so your beach day doesn’t have to end when the sun goes down.
