After that, a post office was built on the site in the late 1800s. In other words, it reportedly was never used as a staging area for Confederate soldiers.
Why the ghosts of Confederate soldiers seem to linger in this park is as big a mystery as the Brown Mountain Lights over off the Blue Ridge Parkway. We may never know.
