Summer in Maine is synonymous with wet hair, sandy skin and bare feet. It also goes hand in hand with the most important food staple of all: ice cream! Vacationland has lots of different options, but somehow soft serve seems the most appropriate in the summertime. We were excited to learn that this classic spot in South Portland was voted the best in the state by Buzzfeed. It’s incredibly well-deserved!
If you’ve been in South Portland, you certainly know the big red-roofed barn sitting on Cottage Rd. At one point it looked like this.

While the ingredients are special, the perfect cone is why people come here night after night, every summer.

There are plenty of topping from which to choose, but whipped cream is a must-have.
