Great news, South Carolinians! You no longer have to make sure your passport is current or drive more than 700 miles to see Niagara Falls. The Palmetto State has its own Niagara,and we can’t sing its praises often enough.
Our very own Niagara Falls is located in one of the most up-and-coming cities in the nation, and has quite a few things in common with that ‘other’ Niagara Falls.

But first, a little history of the urban waterfall that’s now at the center of attention for locals and visitors alike who flock to admire this natural wonder located within Falls Park on the Reedy in Greenville. The entire community was built around this waterfall, utilized for most of the time by various mills built upon the banks of the Reedy River. With mill operations, followed pollution and generally unsavory water conditions. But all of that changed in the 1990s, when the city got serious about cleaning up the space.

A variety of government, private and not-for-profit entities banded together to create one of the most gorgeous urban parks in the South. And today, our very own Niagara Falls has attained its own national notoriety.

Visitors from all over come just to stand on the observation deck (a.k.a. Liberty Bridge) and gawk in awe of this natural wonder. And it’s easy to see why!
