There’s one little museum in northwest Ohio that’s been hard at work restoring a railroad. The Toledo Lake Erie & Western Railway and Museum in Grand Rapids, Ohio is a little-known hidden gem that makes a wonderful day trip destination when you’re looking for something unique to do with the family.

The Toledo Lake Erie & Western Railway and Museum features 10.5 miles of track between Waterville and Grand Rapids, Ohio.

For years, this non-profit organization has been hard at work to clear the way for motor cars and get the railroad fully restored.

This unique museum is open for the season from June - October on the first and third Saturdays of each month from noon - 4 p.m.

Along the motor car rides, you’ll get to cross the picturesque bridge over the Maumee River, which stretches more than 900 ft. long.
