We could all use a little more magic in our lives. Between school, work, chores, family obligations, and just the stress of living in this world, daily life can start to feel like a real grind. The best cure for that overwhelmed feeling is undoubtedly time in nature – the more stunning, the better. Luckily enough, it’s not hard to find a little magic in New Hampshire. And there’s one place in particular where you can find a lot of magic – this is the kind of place where you can imagine fairies living or a fantasy novel coming to life.

Sculptured Rocks Natural Area in Groton spans 227 acres, and features some incredible natural rock features carved by the Cockermouth River during the last ice age.

Just a short walk from the parking lot, you’ll find one of the most magnificent natural wonders you’ve ever encountered – smooth, undulating rocks punctuated by small waterfalls and a river that gushes in spots and trickles in others.

The water is stunningly clear – you can see straight down to the smooth pebbles at the bottom.

The larger pools are popular swimming spots – just be prepared before you jump in that this water is COLD. It’s perfect for a hot summer’s day, but you may want to ease in instead of taking a leap!

The scale of these rock features will stun you – it’s a good reminder of just how small we are on the scale of the Earth and time.
