It was hard to resist covering the Big Bluff along the Buffalo National River, after all at 550-ft. that particular bluff is the tallest sheer bluff face found between the Rocky and Appalachian mountains. However “easy” and “Big Bluff” will never be used in the same sentence unless you’re describing how easy it is to fall off, which is never good for a family hiking trip. So today we’re focused on Signal Hill Trail, the more kid-friendly trail that still takes you to the top of the world. Ignite your little’s inner Arkansas-adventurer as we trek one of the most iconic trails in the state.

The quest to reach the top of the world in Arkansas is a pretty easy trek since the trailhead is well marked and visible from the road.

The Signal Hill Trail is a perfect first trail for new Arkansans.

AllTrails/Andrea Peterson It’s a 1.5-mile hike that takes about two hours. Along the trail you’ll spot plenty of wildflowers and probably a deer or two.

Of course you’ll want to take a photo with proof that you’ve reached the top.

AllTrails/Barry McCormick The peak elevation point is at 2,753-ft. above sea level, which is quite a bragging right for such an easy hike.

The top is also adored with a 400-sq. ft. stone map of Arkansas and it’s official geological survey emblem.

AllTrails/Steven Yackel Congratulations! You can now cross off one of the most iconic spots on your Arkansas bucket list.

If you’re wanting a great lookout spot that’s still safe for smaller hikers, you can take in the sights from the Lodge…

Facebook/Lodges of Arkansas You can’t miss it while you’re up there but the address for the Lodge is 577 Lodge Dr., Paris, AR 72855.

…or drive to the lookout point along Cameron Bluff.

Flickr/Jonathan Ball The turn off for the Cameron Bluff Drive is at the first Mount Magazine State Park parking area.

Regardless if you hike to the tallest point or just take in the sights around the many overlooks, Mount Magazine will make you feel like you’re on top of the world.
