Everywhere you turn this season, there’s another corn maze to enjoy. Located in Northern Indiana is a big red barn that hosts some fun fall activities you won’t want to pass up.

Southgate Crossing is a farm, restaurant, and market all in one. Also known as the “big red barn” in Elkhart, this impressive structure was built in 2006 by Amish craftsmen who used traditional, old-world methods that are rarely utilized today.

Local white and red oak, hickory, beech, and poplar trees were used for this project as well as many Douglas firs from Idaho.
The most exciting thing going on at this farm right now is the Community Corn Maze. It opened September 1, 2018 and will run through November 1, 2018. Guests are welcome to check it out Thursdays and Fridays from 4 to 8 p.m., Saturday from noon to 8 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

Admission to the corn maze at this big red barn is between $3 and $9 per guest. Attendants will also get to enjoy a pumpkin patch, roasted marshmallows, and a kids’ play area.

Most visitors of this farm can’t pass up a trip to the bakery. Breads, cookies, cinnamon rolls, danishes, pies, cupcakes, and donuts abound here, and you’ll want try a little bit of everything.

Guests enjoy the market at this barn for all its artisan goods and other unique products. Find gardening tools and other household items and DIY supplies.

There is also a restaurant at this farm. Visitors enjoy a diverse buffet on Thursday nights and Saturday mornings. Individual menu items include pulled pork, Italian beef, roasted chicken, and many other sandwiches as well as burgers, chicken strips, soups, and salads.

Southgate Crossing is also a beautiful place to host an event, such as a wedding. From a grand ballroom to smaller conference space areas, there is room here for parties big and small.

Regular hours for Southgate Crossing are Tuesday and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. Stop by for dinner or to shop before you get lost in the maze.
