Nestled on the outskirts of Ala Moana Center in Hawaii’s capital city, Sweet Creams is Hawaii’s original rolled ice cream shop.

Rolled ice cream has been popping up all over social media the last few years, and the world became obsessed. Little rolls of ice cream — or fried ice cream, as it’s often called in Thailand where the dessert originated — are packed into cups and topped with everything from Fruity Pebbles and Oreos to mangoes, bananas, and even mochi bites.

Here in Hawaii, we can’t get enough of this sweet treat — and as Hawaii’s original and award-winning rolled ice cream shop, you’ll typically find the small space at Sweet Creams absolutely packed, often with a line winding out the door and around the building. The wait, however, is totally worth it.

Utilizing fresh, local fruits and premium ingredients, and featuring a variety of tasty pre-made concoctions, it’s easy to see why Sweet Creams has become so popular.

Made by pouring sweetened milk on an iced steel grill and mixing it with fruit and candies, this rolled ice cream is simply delectable. Once the creamy mixture hardens, workers spread it across the sub-zero surface using metal spatulas to scrape sections into small rolls, which are then placed neatly into a cup and topped with whatever goodies your heart desires.

Featuring vanilla ice cream and fresh strawberries topped with Fruity Pebbles, graham cracker, whipped cream, and strawberry syrup, Sweet Cream’s take on Strawberry Shortcake is absolutely to die for.

Sweet Creams is located at 1430 Kona St. #102, Honolulu, HI 96814 on the outskirts of the Ala Moana Mall, and is open from 12 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 12 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. They also recently opened up a location in Pearlridge, and while we haven’t seen the lines for ourselves, we’re sure they exist!
