While many of us are still outside enjoying the warm weather, September is quickly approaching. We all know how quickly fall can turn into winter in Vermont. After last year’s brutally cold temperatures and seemingly endless piles of snow, you’ll be happy to hear the details of the 2019 winter forecast. The Old Farmer’s Almanac just released its predictions for the upcoming winter and it’s looking like it will be much more tolerable than last year.
Across the board, Vermont should expect a warmer and wetter than usual winter.

Snowfall will be lower than last year but overall precipitation will be higher. This means you can expect more rain days than snow days.

While we may not get a white Christmas, we will have snow, so don’t throw out your sled and shovels just yet. The snowiest parts of the season will be early January, early February, and mid-March into early April.

The coldest parts of winter will be seen in late December into mid-January, and then back in time for Valentine’s Day for the early to mid-February stretch.

While Vermont is absolutely picturesque covered with a blanket of white snow, it will be nice to enjoy it in smaller doses this year.
