I think we can all agree that San Antonio is one of our favorite places to visit. It’s deeply rooted in some of the most important parts of Texas history, the culture is rich and vibrant, and strolling down the River Walk brings about a sense of contentment and relaxation unmatched by any other place. This month in particular, the Alamo City comes to life even more than usual with the annual Fiesta, a 10-day event paying homage to the fallen soldiers of historical battles and celebrating the vibrant culture of the town. With food, games, music, parades, and more awesome festivities, y’all definitely don’t want to miss out on this!

Fiesta started in 1891 as a one-parade event to commemorate the battles of San Jacinto and The Alamo. Since then, it’s grown into one of the state’s biggest festivals that serves to celebrate the vibrant and diverse culture of San Antonio.

The ten-day celebration is absolutely loaded with fun activities. Some sort of parade takes places nearly every day, and proceeds benefit over 100 nonprofit organizations supporting just causes.

Several of the parades happen on the river itself. Nothing truly compares to the sight of colorful, decked-out gondolas floating on the water. Pictured is the Ford Mariachi Festival, which features student performers playing music and dancing on the boats.

One of the most popular events is the Fiesta Carnival. It takes place every single night from 6pm-12am and promises a good time for the whole family with rides, games, and (of course) delicious food.

You definitely won’t want to miss the crowning of Miss Fiesta 2018. It’s not just some superficial title - the queen is chosen because she raised the most money for whatever cause Fiesta chooses to contribute to that year. She deserves the support of all Fiesta attendees!

So if you want to join in the festivities (trust us, you do), make the trip to SATX anytime between the 19 and 29 for the celebration of a lifetime!
