For over 40 years, the historic town of Kimmswick has held the Annual Apple Butter Festival on the last full weekend of October. Over 100,000 people attend this huge Autumn event and it keeps getting bigger and better each year. Enjoy the small town ambiance, fill up on classic fair foods, and be sure to take home a jar of apple butter to savor all winter long!
Every year, the Kimmswick Historical Society hosts the annual Apple Butter Festival. This year’s event will happen on October 27th and 28th. Under the Apple Butter Pavilion, the sweet smell of apples and spices wafts through the air as they prepare a huge batch of the brown butter.

Before the festival opens, locals peel and prepare the apples for use. A huge wood fire it lit and the kettle is filled with apples. Visitors can take a turn cooking and stirring the concoction. After seven to eight hours the fragrant spread is thick enough to be sealed in jars.

Saturday draws the largest crows. For an enjoyable experience with less people come out on a Sunday between 10 and noon. The streets are closed to traffic during the event, but you can park near by at Windsor High School and take a bus down to the festival.

There are over 500 vendors in attendance at this annual event. Find great fair food, amazing artists, craftsmen, and more lining the streets of Kimmswick.

There are so many tasty treats to sample and take home. Grab a bag of kettle corn, pick up a bottle of local wine, or stop by the Blue Owl and purchase their world famous Mile High Apple Pie.

Kiddos will love riding the mini train or taking a horseback ride. You can also find live music throughout the day, live demonstrations of pumpkin and wood carving, face painting, free tastings, carnival games, and much much more!
