Spending the day surrounded by balloons and festival activities is a day well spent in Kansas. We don’t get to see hot air balloons too often (blame the wind!) but we love our balloon festival when it comes around. We think this year, we should all come together in this small town for a balloon festival that we’ll never forget.

On the 5th, there’s a few scheduled events to prepare you for the full day of fun on the 6th.

On the 6th, the festivities start bright and early, and fill the day up with everything you could think of.
JL Johnson/Flickr Some of the best parts include the pancake feed, the hot air balloon race, a parade, a 5k race, and plenty of kid’s activities. This year, they’re even reburying a time capsule to be opened 50 years from now.
Of course, everyone’s waiting for the Balloon Regatta scheduled at 5:30 p.m.

On the 7th, there’s even more fun to be had, with another liftoff scheduled for the early morning.
